Magical Camp by HLF version 0.4.5 e
In Magical Camp, you play as a young loser who through a twist of fate finds himself trapped in a boot camp for Magical Girls. Now he has to hide his true identity and somehow find a way to escape before the psychotic camp director finds him. Fortunately, his fellow campers seem happy to help him improve his disguise, but how far is he really willing to go?I want this game to be a hybrid of sorts between Runes of Chaos and Prisoners of the Elder One. Gampeplay is divided between socialization with the camp inhabitants (each morning and night) and combat (which takes place during the day).A lot of people are accusing this game of having bad combat balance, to the point thta it seems like its becoming a case of herd-think. This game’s combat balance is some of the best I’ve ever played on an RPG Maker game and that is solely due to the fact that combat itself is entirely non-level based and only stat and equipment based, with both of those being provided as rewards for participating in social events with other characters, like in the Persona series. This means that level grinding is never necessary, every boss is defeatable by any party as long as you are doing social events as they arrive (which is the main draw of the game as the writing is excellent). Also, enemy encounters can be dodged on the map and there’s even a debug that disables all non-boss combat, which makes this game practically speed-runnable.I will admit though, there is one thing that might trip people up, and that’s the assumption that the MC is meant to be a physical damage dealer. He/She is definitely not a physical fighter, and will slowly gain massive magical damage as they slowly become more magical girl-like over the course of the game, so don’t bother trying to build ATK on them. I did so in my first playthrough and, yeah, it totally doesn’t work. Leave physical damage to Veronica. Anyway, love the game and give it a solid 10/10 (which means “Must Play”, not “Perfect”) and suggest everyone to give it a try. It is definitely a modern masterwork that’s going to/has inspired a lot of other creators with its quality.
